The environmental testing industry has operated the same way for decades: collect a sample, send it to a fixed lab, and wait five to seven business days for a result. Techtron Environmental Solutions built a better model. Now the company is looking for the right people to run it.
Founded in 1988 by Mike Bodnar in the Upper Midwest, Techtron Environmental Solutions spent more than 30 years delivering accurate, reliable hazardous materials testing to homeowners, businesses, and government agencies at local and national levels. The reputation was earned through results. In 2017, the company developed the concept for the Mobile Lab Network, a proprietary system designed to bring ISO-accredited testing directly to job sites. The first ISO-accredited mobile lab was deployed in 2020. Certified results, on-site, within hours. The model worked.
In 2023, Brian Meyer acquired Techtron Environmental Solutions. In 2025, the company launched its first joint venture and began franchising nationally in partnership with FranDevCo. The opportunity is now open.
The Mobile Lab: The Competitive Edge
Every Techtron franchisee receives a fully equipped, ISO-accredited mobile lab. Pre-calibrated for asbestos, mold, and lead testing and connected to the Techtron Operating System for real-time reporting, each unit is operated by one trained technician and capable of delivering same-day certified results. No other franchise system offers this level of on-site testing capability.
The operating model is built to stay lean. Techtron franchisees operate entirely from their mobile labs, without fixed locations or large teams. A single trained technician runs each unit. Staffing grows only as B2B relationships and project volume grow. Low overhead and no real estate requirement mean an efficient operation from day one.
Training, Technology, and Ongoing Support
Franchisees receive pre-opening training covering operations, compliance, NAID certification requirements, and technical instruction on mobile lab equipment. The Techtron Operating System standardizes workflows, powers real-time reporting, and provides centralized data access through CRM-driven customer and project tracking.
Ongoing education, personalized coaching, and technical oversight keep franchisees aligned with evolving environmental testing standards. Techtron provides guidance through all required licensing and compliance steps. Franchisees are not navigating the regulatory landscape alone.
Who Techtron Is Looking For
Techtron is not built for passive investors. The franchise attracts operators who develop territory with intent, build lasting B2B relationships with restoration companies, property managers, insurance firms, and real estate professionals, and take compliance seriously. Environmental testing is a regulation-driven industry. Techtron franchisees are comfortable working within defined protocols, from ISO-accredited procedures to OSHA and EPA requirements.
The model supports owner-operators, manage-the-manager structures, and multi-territory investor ownership. Franchisees who want to scale have a clear path: add mobile labs, grow the team, expand the territory. The ceiling is set by the operator, not the model.
